This study aims to determine the causes of failure in coupling gear, reduce or minimize damage that occurs hardness gear material, and level wear tear on gear. research was conducted from July October 2022, at PT. Semen Padang, ITP Mechanical Engineering Laboratory, FT-Unand Metallurgical Laboratory. The test procedures used this are first identify damage, testing After observing, types obtained, namely form wear. scoring, plastic flow, pitting. Based results specimen, average 41.1 HRC second 33.5 third 34.9 HRC. specimen has highest value is with an 41.3 1 0.008 2 0.004 3 4 5 0.004. From it found type material classified as abrasive fatigue because two materials rubbing against each other eroded does not stick there also due load applied continuously so worn out.
